County Durham firefighters to the rescue as toilet training toddler gets potty seat stuck on his head

A Darlington youngster was rescued by firefighters after a slight misunderstanding during his potty training.

Family had to call in help County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service last week after toddler Edward got his head stuck in a toilet training set - and couldn't get it back out.

The team certainly saw the funny side of the unusual incident, labelling it "not your 'bog' standard rescue when they shared a hilarious photo of the youngster on Facebook.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: "Yesterday morning, firefighters from Darlington Green Watch came to the rescue of Edward, after he found himself having some… toilet troubles!

"Somehow, he had managed to get his toilet training seat stuck round his head, but thankfully our crews got to work quickly and managed to release him in no time!

"Well done to everyone involved."

Alongside praising firefighters for their work, people in the comments certainly enjoyed the story, joking that this was a story young Edward would certainly be hearing about as he got older.

"I shouldn't laugh but this funny. As he gets older im sure his parents will never let him forget it," one said.

Another added: "The face of regret! Bless him excellent picture for his 18th birthday or when the first girlfriend comes for tea."
