An egg hunt is a classic way to spend time with your family over the Easter weekend.
Some families spend hours hiding eggs in a whole manner of elaborate locations, whereas some may prefer to head to an event where all the work has been done for them. And one North East event has been recommended as one of the best in the country.
Beamish Museum in County Durham has a whole weekend of Easter celebrations planned from April 7 - 10, including its Golden Easter Egg Hunt, which has been picked out by The Times as one of the country's best. In the past, there has been egg rolling and hot cross bun making.
Of the Golden Easter Egg Trail, the Times wrote: "The open-air Beamish Living Museum of the North tells the story of the northeast over the past 200 years, with costumed folk bringing history to life — offering the opportunity to time-travel while you hunt. Paint eggs at 1820s Pockerley Old Hall; make an Easter puppet at a 1940s Land Girls’ cottage; go egg-and-spoon racing in the 1950s Welfare Hall; or watch hot cross buns being baked in the 1900s Pit Village.
"Stay on site at Beamish Glamping, where restored vintage railway carriages have been turned into self-catering cabins with hot tubs."
