Country Singer Morgan Wallen Arrested For Reckless Endangerment In Nashville

Morgan Wallen performs "Man Made a Bar" at the 57th Annual CMA Awards in Nashville, Tenn., on Nov. 8, 2023.

Morgan Wallen was arrested Sunday night on reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct charges after he allegedly threw a chair from the rooftop of a Nashville bar. Wallen's attorney confirmed the arrest in a statement provided to Variety by the singer's team. According to local Nashville news outlet WKRN, Wallen was booked into Metro Jail early on Monday morning and released a few hours later.

Arrest documents obtained by WKRN detailed the incident, stating that two Metropolitan Nashville Police Department officers were standing in front of Chief's Bar on Broadway when a chair was thrown from the six-story building, landing approximately 3 feet away from them. Chief's staff members identified Wallen as the individual responsible for throwing the chair, a claim allegedly supported by security video footage.

Wallen was charged with three counts of reckless endangerment for endangering the two officers and the public, as well as disorderly conduct. This incident is not Wallen's first controversy, as in 2021, a video surfaced of him using a racial slur, leading to backlash and consequences such as radio stations and streaming services pulling his music and his label suspending his recording contract.

Wallen later issued an apology through social media and donated $300,000 to the Black Music Action Coalition. Despite the controversies, Wallen has continued to find success in his music career, releasing his third studio album, 'One Thing at a Time,' in March 2023 and selling out stadiums on his tour in support of the record.
