A home has been put on the market in Merseyside, that looks as though it has been frozen in time.
Described as being in need of “repair and renovation” when the current owners moved in, the five bedroom detached house dates back to 1935. The family have lived in the home for more than 40 years and have made significant changes over the years, including doubling the footprint of the property in 1991.
The expansion means that there are now twice the amount of bedrooms, bathrooms and additional living space. As well as the three storey property, two detached garages (one of which includes a workshop and gym) are also included in the price.

Not to mention, there are “stunning” gardens surrounding the property and five acres of grazing land on offer. With plenty of highlights, as well as many countryside home characteristics, the property is for sale at £1,400,000.
According to Rightmove’s sales information, properties in Widnes had an overall average price of £190,775 over the last year. Semi-detached properties made up the majority of sales in the last 12 months, selling for an average price of £198,093.
Terraced properties sold for an average of £130,635, with detached properties fetching £338,169. Overall, sold prices in Widnes over the last year were 2% down on the previous year and 10% up on the 2018 peak of £173,858.
Named Holyrood, the home is found at the end of a paved circular driveway, secluded behind a gated entrance. Images of the grounds show that there are plenty of mature trees and fields.
As the current owners are keen gardeners there's an acre of garden, a summer house, green house and garden garage. More recently a polytunnel also was installed in addition to the purchase of a four-acre field and barn behind the house.
Inside the property is fitted with solid oak floor and wood panelling throughout. The ground floor is made up mainly of family living areas, and a enclosed courtyard. On the first floor the main bedroom benefits from a walk-in wardrobe and en-suite bathroom.
The top floor has been expanded, to provide a working space for up to five staff members. Interior images show there's plenty of space across the property, with potential for additional renovations.
The Fine and Country listing reads: “‘Holyrood’ was built in 1935 and has been the current owner’s family home since 1978. Originally a three-bedroom house that needed repair and renovation, the property evolved as the needs of the family changed over a period of 44 years until the present day.
“Location was a priority for the current owners and ‘Holyrood’ fitted the bill perfectly; close to family, the main shops, their jobs as teachers and last but by no means least, good state schools for the two children.”
