Countries you can travel to without taking a test if you're fully vaccinated

If you are looking to jet away abroad this summer, one, we can't blame you and two, there's some things you'll need to know before you set your heart on a destination.

The travel sector is slowly reopening with the likes of Germany, Switzerland and France all welcoming back tourists.

But at present, a lot of popular destinations require you to do a test regardless of your vaccine status.

For example, in order to cross the French border, travellers, regardless of vaccine status, must present a negative PCR or antigen test result taken within 24 hours pre-departure if aged 12 years and over.

They must also provide a completed 'sworn statement' (déclaration sur l’honneur) form self-certifying you’re not suffering from symptoms associated with coronavirus and have not been in contact with confirmed cases in the preceding fortnight - this can be found on the French government’s website here

The rule change meant that fully vaccinated holidaymakers can now enter he country without having an 'essential' reason.

Travellers who are not fully vaccinated will need to self-isolate on arrival to France for 10 days, subject to police checks.

But what about destinations that don't need a test?

Below we list destinations you can holiday in without the taking a covid test if you're fully vaccinated...

Turkey

Fully vaccinated Brits can enjoy holidays here without the need to take covid tests or to quarantine.

You will however need to fill out an online form within 72 hours before departure which applies to all travellers aged six and over.

Turkish authorities are carrying out random PCR testing at airports though, so bear this in mind if you're planning a trip.

Children aged 11 and under can follow the rules for fully vaccinated travellers to enter Turkey.

Spain

Fully vaccinated UK arrivals don't need to take a test or quarantine to visit Spain.

You'll need to have been fully vaccinated for at least 14 days before arrival. Children under the age of 12 do not need to show proof of being fully vaccinated on entry to Spain.

All UK travellers will also need to fill out a pre-travel form and obtain a QR code to show at border control.

Mexico

Despite no need to take any tests or quarantine, it is mandatory to register on the Mexico Vuela Seguro Platform before boarding your flight to Mexico, and to show the QR code upon arrival at the airport.

Costa Rica

Tourists will need to fill out an online health pass within 72 hours before arrival.

As a result of being fully vaccinated, travellers who received their final jag at least 14 days before travel can visit Costa Rica without having to buy mandatory insurance - this also applies to visitors aged under 18.

Germany

Anyone aged six or over needs to be able to show either proof of vaccination, proof of recovery from covid or proof of a negative test.

If your child is unvaccinated, they can still visit as long as they also have a negative test.

Dominican Republic

You don't need a PCR test to enter the Dominican Republic provided you can show proof of full covid vaccination, with proof that a final dose was administered no fewer than three weeks before your arrival.

Switzerland

The new rules come into force tomorrow (January 22) and will only apply to those who are fully vaccinated.

This means that anyone who is not fully vaccinated must have an 'essential' reason for travelling.

Children under the age of 18 do not count and are exempt from this rule so long as they are travelling with a fully vaccinated adult.

Passengers travelling by plane or a 'long-distance bus service' will still be required to fill out a Passenger Locator Form before travelling.

In addition to this, the requirement for travellers to take follow-up tests on days four and seven after arrival has also been scrapped.

Czech Republic

Fully vaccinated Brits can enter the Czech Republic for holidays meaning if you've had your booster jab, you won't need to show a negative PCR test result.

If you're fully vaccinated with two doses but haven't yet had your booster, then you will be required to show a negative PCR test result.

You'll also need to fill out a pre-departure Passenger Locator Form.

Children aged 12 or under are exempt from testing and do not need to self-isolate if they are travelling with their fully vaccinated parents.

Montenegro

You can visit Montenegro if you have been fully vaccinated against but only if your last dose was more than six months ago.

This last dose must have been your booster in order to be classed as fully vaccinated.

You can also visit without taking a test if you can show proof of recovery from covid between 10-180 days.

Anyone else needs to show proof of a negative test to enter - a PCR within 72 hours of travel or an antigen within 48 hours.

Children under the age of 18 do not require a test or proof of vaccination.
