Counter-terrorism cops are now leading the investigation into the firebombing of a Dover immigration centre on Sunday as police named their suspect.
Andrew Leak was found dead at a nearby petrol station shortly after the arson attack.
The 66-year-old was from the High Wycombe area, over 100 miles away from the Border Force facility, and was a suspected paedophile, according to reports.
He shared vile social media rants targeting immigrants where he said "what the f*** is going on in this country" before launching his attack.
Two people inside the centre were hurt during the strike, however they only suffered minor injuries. A witness claimed he was "laughing" as he flung the petrol bombs from a car window.
The attacker reportedly told coach drivers transporting migrants "Do you know what you're doing? Your children should be raped and killed!" before driving to a petrol station and taking his own life.
A Kent police statement this afternoon confirmed the matter is now in the hands of the counter-terrorism squad.
Officers have also carried out a warrant at a property in Buckinghamshire.
It read: "Officers established that two to three incendiary devices had been thrown outside and into the premises by a single suspect who arrived at the scene in a car.
"Two people have reported minor injuries from inside the property.
"The suspect was identified, and very quickly located at a nearby petrol station, and confirmed deceased.
"The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit attended the location to ensure there were no further threats. A further device was found and confirmed safe within the suspect’s vehicle.
"The site remained open, however around 700 suspected migrants were relocated to Manston to ensure safety during the initial phase of the police investigation.
"Enquiries into the incident remain ongoing by Kent detectives.
"Police are being assisted by colleagues from Thames Valley Police to carry out a warrant at a property in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, on Monday 31 October.
"Officers have confirmed that the suspect, found deceased at a nearby petrol station, is a 66-year-old man from the High Wycombe area."
The suspect had been suffering from "very severe mental health difficulties" according to Sir Roger Gale, MP for Kent constituency Thanet North.
Police have now raided his home after he drove for hours to firebomb the centre, carrying out a "recce" the night before, according to the Mail Online.
A source said the man was a suspected paedophile who previously threatened to kill himself as he was questioned by police, reports claim.
Another source told The Telegraph that the bomber was previously investigated for child sex offences, although it is unclear if he was ever charged.
Lucy Moreton, spokesperson for the Union for Borders, Immigration & Customs, said it was a "really frightening" time for staff working with migrants.
She told BBC Radio 4's Today programme: "There's been a lot of drones flying over the site in the last 24 hours.
"There's a lot of tensions on the site. The migrants are very keen to be moving, to be moved on, to get their freedom back.
"Staff face, on a daily basis, sitdown protests."
