Councillor Mags MacLaren encourages residents to get involved in Regeneration Proposals

Renfrewshire residents are being invited to several pop-up events to get involved with proposed plans to make several improvements within the area.

Communities and Housing Policy board officers provided a report on the plans for regenerating various areas across Renfrewshire including the Broomlands Street and Springbank Road areas within Paisley Northwest ward.

It is vital that the local community are involved throughout the entire process and they are encouraged to make suggestions and speak to the officers there to voice any concerns that they may have.

Councillor Mags MacLaren said: “It’s important that all residents within the council’s housing-led regeneration areas are made aware as soon as possible where the local pop-up events are taking place to ensure as many people as possible can attend.

“It is essential that all residents, whether owners or council tenants, are kept fully involved in the consultation surrounding this regeneration.”

As well as giving an outline of the proposed timescale for each area, a series of pop-up events are being arranged but there was a lack of detail on where each event was to be held.

Mags added: “I am pleased to see that pop-up events are being arranged but there was a lack of detail in the council papers as to how long each event would last or even where each event would be held.

“I know officers said they would issue letters to residents at the conclusion of the meeting but there was no reason why this information couldn’t come to the board, especially as the event for the Broomlands Street area takes place on August 25.”

“I would encourage everyone who lives in the regeneration areas to go along to the pop-up event in their area and raise any issues they have direct with officers. It’s vitally important that the local community is fully involved in this process.”
