Council workmen resurface road around a parked car - leaving locals in stitches

Residents have been left in stitches after council workers resurfaced an entire street - apart from a tiny area surrounding a solitary parked car.

Work got underway in Craighouse Gardens, Edinburgh, with prior notice from the council and cars towed if they were left on the street.

But after the job was complete, one motor was still parked in the Enterprise Car Club spot - with workers forced to work around it.

Residents were quick to point out the shortcoming, as an image went viral showing the road looking brand new apart from the section where the black Hyundai is parked.

The resident who posted the picture commented: "Looks like they missed a bit during the resurfacing works at Craighouse Gardens."

Just days ago, residents were warned of cars being transported away if they were parked on the roadside before road resurfacing work began.

Several vehicles were lifted, but for some reason, the car club one remained. Speaking to Edinburgh Live, one passer-by said: "The road actually looks brand new now but I'm confused as to why one small patch has been left.

"Other vehicles were apparently removed by the council before the work begun, so I don't know why this one wasn't. I noticed it was parked in the car club spot so maybe they couldn't lift it without permission from Enterprise.

"It does look quite daft and obviously workers will now have to return to resurface that spot once the car has been removed."

An Edinburgh Council spokesperson said it is not always possible to remove every vehicle from the street but areas that are untreated will be picked up and treated by the contractor in due course at no additional cost.
