A local mystery has been solved after neighbours were left scratching their heads when they looked out of their windows.
People on Alderson Road in Wavertree came out of their houses to bring in their wheelie bins after a collection on Monday. But instead of seeing their bins in their usual position on the pavement, they were baffled to find every single bin on its side.
The sight caused confusion on the road with neighbours wondering why anyone would put them in such an unusual position. The council has now explained exactly what is going on.

Liverpool City Council told the ECHO that the street now has communal bins and the bin men had placed the old wheelie bins on their side so that the wheels could be removed to allow them to be stacked. They were also removed from nearby Salisbury Road.
In a photo taken by a passerby yesterday a row of blue and purple bins can be seen on their side all the way down Alderson Road. The post caused a stir on social media and racked up over 60 likes and 84 comments.
A spokesperson for Liverpool City Council said: "The crew have collected all of the wheeled bins – and before collection, they were placed on their side so that the wheels could be removed to allow the bins to be stacked."
