Liverpool Council staff have cleared more than 700 tyres from a huge fly-tipping dump where asbestos has now been found.
On Friday, it was reported that the council had begun clearing an enormous 50-tonne dump on land in Kirkdale. The enormous tip was located on a site in Dunnett Street.
Images showed a giant pile of tyres, furniture, mattresses and other items that have been piled up. The local authority said that more than 50 tonnes has already been cleared, but that work will be ongoing into the weekend to finish the clearance.

That work has continued over the weekend and in a new update today the city council said they have already been forced to clear more than 700 tyres from the site. But this won't be the end of the job.
The local authority believes there are still around 400 more tyres to be cleared from the site. However the clearance work has had to be paused as asbestos has been located found which requires a specialist team.
The council said on Friday it had used CCTV footage in order to begin prosecutions against four individuals for the fly-tipping at the site. The ECHO understands this process is ongoing.
The latest tweet from the city council said: "Our fly-tipping hit squad cleared an astonishing 700+ tyres over the weekend from a single site on Dunnett St, Kirkdale. The job has paused as asbestos has been found which requires a specialist clearance team.
"An estimated 400 more tyres will be removed from this site, once the asbestos is cleared. All of the tyres will be recycled & used in children's play areas. Thanks to CCTV the council is seeking to prosecute 4 individuals for flytipping here."
