A council has apologised after painting double yellow lines around a van rather than moving it. It comes after an angry local resident pleaded with them to come and finish the job.
The dark blue Ford Transit van was parked on the pavement on a main road in Sheffield the council's line painting team came round to add new parking restrictions.
However, an image shared by local Joanna Hall showed that rather than having it towed, as it was parked on the pavement in the way of the works, they simply painted around it with the space where the van was parked left blank.

"I'm never going to top this, its always "parked" obstructing the pavement and the yellow lines were painted a week ago" Joanna said. "Please, please @SheffSW_NPT can you pop over tomorrow".
The snap of the incident Osborne Road in southern Sheffield suburb of Nether Edge received hundreds of likes and shares with scores of other people from the city hitting out at obstructive parking reports Yorkshire Live.
Now Sheffield Council has apologised for painting round the van and has promised to finish the job 'once the vehicle is removed.
Sheffield Council's Amey spokesperson said: “We apologise for the partial painting of double yellow lines at either side of the parked vehicle on Osborne Road. Once removed, we will return to complete the lining as soon as possible.”
