South Gloucestershire Council has given an update on the installation a new cycle lane along Badminton Road, designed to encourage 'greener travel' between Yate and the A4174 Ring Road.
There is currently a temporary barrier on one side of the main road, in the direction of Yate from Coalpit Heath, but the council says this will be removed next week. Crews will then move the barrier onto the other side of the road to construct a cycle lane on that side.
But there are concerns that this will cause a build-up of traffic, as it's understood temporary traffic lights will be in place to allow for vehicles to pass. South Gloucestershire Council has been approached to confirm this.

The council said on Facebook: "Installing new stepped cycle lanes along the A432 Badminton Road between Nibley Lane and Frog Lane.
"The next stage of these works will be the removal of the temporary barrier which is planned for four nights from next Monday March 21, 2022, from 8pm to 6am. The crews will then move to the other side of the road in the direction of Coalpit Heath to construct the cycle lane on this side.
"These new cycle lanes (along both sides of the road) will be at a higher level than the existing surface and include a kerb which will help keep cyclists separate from other traffic to encourage greener travel options on this key link between the A4174 Ring Road and Yate. This stretch of Badminton Road will also be resurfaced under the scheme."
Commenting on the Facebook post, one person voiced their concern that emergency vehicles might struggle to get through with temporary traffic lights in place.
Steve asked: "Once the barriers move to the other side of the road there won't be enough room for two way traffic - I understand that this means two-way traffic lights 24/7? With this in mind could you please explain how you plan to manage the routing of emergency vehicles through the extremely long roadwork section?" South Gloucestershire Council is yet to reply to the query.
It comes as the council is resurfacing stretches of Badminton Road in an effort to improve the route. Currently the main road from the junction for Westbourne Road, to the junction for Oakdale Road, in Downend, is shut overnight.
The roadworks are expected to end on March 23 and are part of a £174 million investment, that South Gloucestershire Council says aims to improve its network over a four-year period.
