Team Up To Clean Up is designed to improve the local environment in Renfrewshire. Those who take part in the project tackle tasks such as gully cleaning, road sweeping, recycling, litter picking, clearing fly-tipping and community clean-ups.

The aim is to make Renfrewshire a more attractive place to live, work and visit.

The Facebook page Team Up to Clean Up allows like-minded people to gather and share posts of them collecting bags of litter, and it already has almost 4000 members.

A post from the council has highlighted the work that has been done in recent months. It reveals that "Across June and July, more than 700 of you collected 2760 bags of litter - and we're incredibly grateful so thank you.

“Thank you also to our teams who work behind the scenes to support you with bag collections, drop off of equipment and more.

"We're making a real difference to Renfrewshire's environment.”

Councillor Michelle Campbell, convener of Renfrewshire Council's Infrastructure, Land and Environment Policy Board, said: "Team Up to Clean Up is a fantastic example of how the council can work together with the community.

"We share the same goals and ideals with our volunteers as we want to change the behaviour of those who think it is okay to litter in order to protect our local environment now and for the future.

"We share the same goals and ideals with our volunteers" says the Convener of Renfrewshire Council's Infrastructure, Land and Environment Policy Board (Renfrewshire Council)

"We provide volunteers with equipment and support for their litter picks, as well as collecting the rubbish after, and our online community brings together like-minded people who want to make a difference to where they live.

"We've increased our street cleaning, gully cleaning and fly-tipping services throughout the life of the campaign, as well as a number of other environmental initiatives, and we'll continue to do all we can to make Renfrewshire a cleaner, more attractive place to live, work and visit."
