Could you pass a GCSE maths exam?

Maths is the marmite of the school timetable - you either loved it or hated it - and the debate over whether knowing the total angles of a triangle remains useful into adulthood is still up for grabs.

When Rishi Sunak outlined his plans for all young people to study the subject up to the age 18, many of us where plunged back into memories of GCSE maths homework. How much of the curriculum can you remember? Are you secretly smug that you can quote pi to seven decimal places or do quadradic equations haunt your nightmares?

We've listed 10 example questions that you typically find in a GCSE maths exam. Whether it's been five months or 50 years since you last studied maths, you may surprise yourself with how much you remember.

You'll only have 60 seconds to answer each question, so the jeopardy is high. Be careful though - you'll only have two lives - any more incorrect answers and the quiz will be over before you can say 'parallelogram'. Although, unlike a real GCSE, you can always give the same questions another go. Good luck!

If for any reason you can't see the quiz at the top of this article, click here to view it.
