Sometimes obtaining the top seed, holding it and advancing through the opponents that spot produces can create unintended and unwelcome results, as the Boston Celtics discovered in the 2022 NBA Finals.

This season, the Celtics will likely earn the second seed, and could end up with an easier path through the Eastern Conference playoffs.
