Neighbours have shared their concerns after two catalytic converters were stolen during the night in Cotgrave. The two exhaust emission control devices were stolen from a vehicle on Crosshill and another from Fir Dale during the night of Wednesday, November 2 or early hours of Thursday, November 3.
Since the thefts, neighbourhood officers have increased patrols in the area and the police are asking the public to contact them with any information that could help the investigation. Residents in the area have advised to keep cars parked on their driveways, in their garages or in a well lit area.
When asked about the thefts, postal worker Wendy Teather, 61, said: "I suppose it is concerning, it's a bit scary. I heard about it on Facebook from what people put on and then the police came as we have CCTV but it didn't pick anything up.

"When I asked the police man, he just said it was older cars that were more susceptible to it, as I asked if we should be worried."
A 73 year old who did not wish to be named said: "The first time I heard about it was when the police came. Our car is locked away, and there's a lot of cameras around here, so it's not too bad." She explained that nothing like this has happened in the area before.
Dad, Peter Muter, 38, of Cotgrave, said: "It's not good to hear that it's happening. We've got a security camera outside our house anyway."
He explained that the camera also had a light and he can monitor it from his phone, so feels his family "will probably be ok." When asked if he was going to be taking any more precautions following the thefts, a 60 year old maintenance worker who did not wish to be named said: "Nothing other than putting the car in the drive way.
"We had my van broken into two years ago outside the house. I just think it's the time of year, with it getting dark so early."
Cyber security professional, Richard Blakemore, 34, of Cotgrave, said: "Well obviously there's always going to be a concern. This is quite a busy road and I haven't got a gate or anything, so people could do that type of thing, I've not really thought about it."
When asked if he was considering precautions, such as CCTV or outdoor lighting, he said: "Possibly yeah, something just to deter people. It's quite a busy road so people do drive past quite a lot, and it's a bus route, so I'm supposedly protected.
"Although in the middle of the night, who knows who's around." A 31 year old woman who did not wish to be named said: "Nobody will be stealing my catalytic converter as I'm up all night."
When asked if she had any concerns she said: "No, everyone around here had lots of cameras and everything."
Mechanic, David Alexander, 52, of Cotgrave, also has some concerns about the thefts in the area. David said: "One was from over there and the other was from down there. My whole front garden is gone so I'm putting in a drive way and then I'm getting CCTV cameras installed.
"I already have one security light but I'm putting up another security light as well."
