A secret hack to join Costco has been revealed which allows any shopper to gain access to the budget wholesaler.
Costco offers membership to current and retired employees of select groups and professions.
But the revelation means that anyone wanting to grab a bargain at the cash and carry could save themselves a large membership fee through benefits they already have.
Channel 5 explained how regular shoppers can get around the normal membership criteria and get more for less amid the cost of living crisis.
The show sought to confirm or dispel rumours that people with either AA or RAC breakdown cover can also become fully fledged Costco members for the regular fee of £33.60.
Others can supposedly gain access to the club if they have a National Trust membership or American Express credit card, reports Liverpool Echo.
Producers at Channel 5 called one of Costco's 29 UK stores to inquire about membership and were told by a customer advisor that all of the above rumours were true.
This was confirmed by three other Costco stores at a later stage, however the remaining 25 warehouses did not respond.
With the cost of living crisis starting to stretch many people's finances to the limit, more and more shoppers are looking for ways to make their money go further.
Shopping in bulk at wholesalers such as Costco is one simple way of making valuable savings.
Costco's 29 UK warehouses are dotted around the UK among other well known cash and carry firms including Booker and Marco.
The store was the subject of Channel 5 show 'Costco - Is It Really Worth It?' which aired on Wednesday at 8pm.
Heavy discounted bulk buys include 1,100 teabags for just £11, a 1.5 litre bottle of Prosecco for £20 and a jumbo pack of toilet rolls for a few pounds.
Costco was described on the Channel 5 show as a "mysterious, very private club".
Membership is usually reserved for traders and businesses such as small grocers and corner shops, restaurants and takeaways.
People who work or have retired from certain professions can also become members of Costco.
These include public sector workers such as NHS doctors, emergency services and local government.
Customers can shop online for as little as £15 but only members can visit the warehouses.
There is also an executive membership available for £74.40 for ordinary shoppers, which includes a two per cent cashback on many purchases.
