Brits are getting an extra Bank Holiday weekend this May for the King’s Coronation, which takes place on Saturday, May 6. To makr the special occasion, Monday, May 8, will be a Bank Holiday this year, which means your favourite stores might be changing their opening hours.
King Charles and Queen Camilla will officially be crowned at a special ceremony at Westminster Abbey on Saturday morning, before embarking on a 1.3-mile procession back to Buckingham Palace, where they will be greeted by crowds of people hoping to catch a glimpse of the new monarch.
Brits are being urged to celebrate the occasion by holding street parties in their local communities. More than 3,000 gatherings are expected to take place over the three days.

May is set to be a bumper month for long weekends. The coronation weekend is the second Bank Holiday weekend so far in May, and another is scheduled for the final weekend of the month.
With celebrations taking place up and down the country over the next three days, you might find coffee shops like Starbucks, Costa and Cafe Nero are closed when you most need your caffeine fix. So you don’t get caught out, we have rounded up all the changes to opening hours you need to be aware of.
Costa
Costa has confirmed that there may be reduced opening hours across some of its stores over the bank holiday weekend.
A spokesperson for Costa said: "The opening hours of all 2,800+ Costa Coffee stores over the bank holiday weekend may vary. We would therefore advise customers to check in with their local store via the Costa Coffee website or Costa Coffee app to avoid disappointment."
They added: "Customers can also continue to enjoy their favourite Costa coffee from any of our 13,000+ Costa Express machines, which operate 365 days a year and are located all across the UK. For ease, the store locator which includes stores and Express locations is available here."
According to the Costa website, Manchester's central Market Street store, located next to the tram stop, will be opening as usual at the following times:
Saturday, May 6: 07:00 - 22:00
Sunday, May 7: 08:30 - 20:00
Monday, May 8: 06:30 - 21:00
Starbucks
Starbucks has confirmed that its stores will be open as usual over the bank holiday weekend. A spokesperson said: "Starbucks stores will operate with usual opening times, customers can find their local store opening times on the Store Locator on our website."
According to the Starbucks website, the opening hours for its Market Steet store in the city centre will open at the following times:
Saturday, May 6: 8:00 - 20:00
Sunday, May 7: 8:00 - 20:00
Monday, May 8: 6:30 - 20:00
Caffe Nero
The opening hours for all Caffe Nero stores can be found on its website here. Manchester's Market Street store will open at the following times over the weekend, according to its website:
Saturday, May 6: 7:00 - 20:00
Sunday, May 7: 7:30 - 20:00
Monday, May 8: 6:30 - 20:00
