Costa praised by shoppers for 'amazing' free drink you won't see on the menu

High street coffee chain Costa has been praised by shoppers for a free drink you can ask for. There are two versions of the drink - one is free and one costs 60p.

Writing on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains group, Betsy Boo said: "I don’t recall seeing this on the menu but Costa offer a small hot chocolate (Babyccino- be sure to ask for the chocolate version) or frothed milk for 60p drink in or take out, including at train stations. It comes with an optional marshmallow. Perfect child size and the fraction of the cost of their small drinks."

The post caught the attention of fellow parents. Zoë Emma Hannah said: "They can also make them with alternative milk. My little boy has a milk allergy so they make it up with soya milk for him but have other options available too. They always clean down the steamer as well to help with cross contamination. He loves them. The marshmallows and chocolate powder is also milk free so it’s nice he doesn’t have to miss out.

Stacie Whitelaw praised: "They’ve had this for years. They should ask you whether it’s just milk or chocolate you’d like. They make it just the right temperature for little people." Samantha Laura Blood said: "These are great! My little boy loves them - you can have just a milk one or chocolate and get the option of a marshmallow or flake!"

Jay Logan said: "Just so you know, Babiccino is a small frothed milk A chococcino is the chocolate version. Great for little tummies and a cheap small option if you're just visiting to use the loo." Anni Barrett said: "Yep my 4 year old twins love this as the cup is perfect size for them and I also get my free bean lol."

We spoke to Costa who clarified that normal milk babyccinos are still free, but if you want a chocolate version with marshmallows and a flake it will cost you 60p. The drinks don't appear on most menus, but if you want one, just ask in store and a barista will happily make one for you.
