Cost of watching Leeds United home and away revealed as travel fares mount

Leeds United will be the fourth most expensive club to support home and away in the Premier League next season. That is according to research conducted by OLBG, who worked out it will cost a total of £2,823.97 to attend all 38 matches with the inclusion of train travel.

Leeds have a relatively modest priced season ticket, with the lowest cost for an adult currently £487; only eight clubs can say that they can offer Premier League football for cheaper. However, it is the cost of train travel that make them among the most expensive to follow both home and away.

Leeds’ average train cost per game is £88.70, with only Newcastle United and Bournemouth more expensive. The Whites will be faced with seven trips to the capital this season, with Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Crystal Palace, West Ham United, Brentford and Fulham all now in the Premier League, as well as long journeys to the South Coast for matches with Bournemouth, Southampton and Brighton.

While Leeds will not have any Yorkshire derbies next season, what makes their total away cost cheaper than Newcastle’s is fixtures against Nottingham Forest, Leicester City and the Manchester clubs. All four clubs are around an hour to an hour and a half from Elland Road, which is minor in comparison to the Magpies’ closest away trip, which is incidentally their two-hour journey to Leeds.

On the other side of the scale, West Ham are the cheapest club in the Premier League to support, with their total cost for the season around £800 less than Leeds’. The Hammers have the cheapest adult season ticket and are also set to face six London derbies, making their travel costs a much more reasonable £58.32.
