Selena Gomez looked like the cat that got the cream as she announced her engagement to Benny Blanco and now a diamond expert has given the low-down on her impressive rock.
They have estimated an eye-watering price for the 4-carat marquise-cut diamond ring and that it likely includes a personal touch from her husband-to-be.
Maxwell Stone from UK retailer Steven Stone explained: "Selena's exquisite sparkler showcases a stunning 4-carat marquise-cut diamond, a true symbol of elegance and luxury. Its elongated shape holds special meaning for Selena, as it subtly alludes to the lyrics from her song 'Good for You', a personal touch from Benny.”
The song, which was released in 2015 and features on Gomez’s second studio album Revival, features lyrics including: “I'm on my 14 carats / I'm 14 carat” and “I'm on my marquise diamonds / I'm a marquise diamond.”
Mr Stone continued: “With meticulously crafted facets that come together to create an exceptional brilliance, the centre stone is complimented by diamond-encrusted shoulders. While marquise-cut diamonds are less common than the more traditional round or cushion cuts, they are highly coveted by those with a taste for individuality and distinction.
“Coleen Rooney received a 10 carat diamond engagement ring worth $400,000 (£314k) from hubby Wayne for her 21st birthday.Given its exceptional beauty and craftsmanship, Selena's ring is likely to be worth around $200,000 (£157k).”
Gomez confirmed that she and Blanco are set to tie the knot after a year of dating in a post shared to Instagram on Wednesday.
The Who Says singer uploaded close-up photos of her stunning new hand accessory as well as a sweet video ringing a loved one to share the joyous news.
Captioning the post, she wrote: “Forever begins now...” while Blanco added his own excitement in the comments, writing: “Hey wait… that’s my wife.”
She also shared a sweet photo of herself showing off her ring to the camera while Blanco, 36, embraced her and kissed her on the head.
