Cost of living: Where to get the cheapest pint in Co Tyrone

Going out these days certainly isn’t cheap - with the price of everything from fuel to heating your home going through the roof.

That means often the last thing on anyone’s minds is being able to go out for a drink in their local boozer. Local pubs across Co Tyrone , along with many other small businesses, are struggling themselves with rising costs and the restart of rates bills following the pandemic.

As a result many pubs around the county have now gone over the £4 mark as their standard pint prices. While this may seem a bargain compared to the likes of Belfast and Dublin, many pub owners in the area have said the only way is up as costs continue to pile up.

After speaking to countless pubs throughout Co Tyrone, we decided to compile a list of what pubs have the lowest price of a pint.

For fairness, we didn’t include special offers and we just asked about standard lager prices as opposed to any speciality or craft beers.

As you will see from the list below, many of the contenders were from outside of the major towns across the county with pubs in the likes of Omagh, Dungannon, Cookstown and Strabane tending to be that little bit more expensive than their rural counterparts.

So here are the ten cheapest pints we found in Co Tyrone:

  • The Whistlers Inn, Sixmilecross £3.20
  • The Poets Pub, Fintona £3.50
  • Farleys Bar, Beragh £3.50
  • O’Connor’s Bar, Dromore £3.50
  • Conway’s, Newtownstewart £3.50
  • Castlebay, Brocagh £3.70
  • Johnston’s, Augher £3.70
  • McKenna's Augher £3.70
  • Scott’s Bar, Fivemiletown £3.70
  • Downey’s Jubilee Bar, Fivemiletown £3.70

It looks like we will be heading in the direction of The Whistlers Inn, Sixmilecross for our next night out!
