Drivers are urged to fuel up ahead of a price increase which comes into effect this week.
The cost of fuel first skyrocketed back in 2022 amid the energy crisis. The fallout from the war in Ukraine saw global energy costs soar, causing prices to shoot up.
The government is set to introduce three price increases on fuel for the first time since Russia invaded Ukraine. The excise duties will be brought in on a phased basis, with the first increase coming into effect at midnight on Wednesday.

The Irish Mirror reports that petrol will increase by 6 cents, diesel by 5 cents and marked gas oil by 1 cent from Thursday. Further rises are expected in September and October.
Petrol is now priced at approximately €2 a litre, according to latest figures. Pumps.ie have compiled a list of the cheapest places to buy petrol and diesel in Dublin for drivers looking to fuel up ahead of the increase.
