Cost of living crisis: Popular Dublin cafe forced to hike prices thanks to inflation

A beloved Crumlin cafe been forced to up its prices due to the ongoing inflation and cost of living crisis.

Pip's Cafe and Deli, located on Old County Road in Crumlin, said that for the past six months they have woken up to emails from suppliers saying that their prices had increased, explaining that some things have "gone up by well over 50%".

This includes stock items such as cups, boxes and cutlery which have all gone "through the roof" in terms of cost.

"Unfortunately we are going to have to increase some of our prices in the near future," they told followers on social media.

"If we don't take action, unfortunately, Pip's will not survive."

They went on to explain that they use "superior food products to some of our competitors" and have still managed to provide better value to customers, but never attempted to reduce the quality of the stock and ingredients they buy in.

They explained: "We ruled this option out straight away.

"Pip's is about quality food at the best prices and we won't compromise on quality."

They added: "The price increases will be minimum, and we promise that unlike some places, when things level out, we will reinstate our old prices."

They went on to thank customers for their understanding in advance of price increases.

Cafe owners also joked: "Most places have already increased prices and have just not informed you."

Customers were quick to offer their support for the beloved local business with one person claiming that the "service is worth every euro".

Another said: "People won't mind because your food is probably the Best around."

Another commented: "Quality comes at a price, and worth every cent!"
