Cosplayers descend on shopping centre as Comic con hits Braehead

Braehead was descended upon by a vast array of famous characters recently for the Glasgow Film and Comic Con.

Shoppers could have been forgiven for thinking the shopping centre had become a film set after they were met with the sight of characters from all kinds of films, TV shows, animated cartoons and comics having a browse of the shop windows.

Thousands of visitors converged in the area to attend the event being held in Braehead Arena on Saturday and Sunday, August 20 and 21.

The event sees fans come along dressed in the costumes of their favourite sci-fi characters.

And they were treated to appearances from much-loved sci-fi actors such as Jimmy Vee, who played R2-D2 in the Star Wars franchise, Natalia Tena, best known as Tonks in Harry Potter, Osha in Game of Thrones and Xi'an in The Mandalorian, as well as the industry's leading cartoonists and publishers.

They also flocked to scores of stalls set up in The Arena to snap up movie memorabilia and sought-after rare comics.

Braehead Centre Director, Peter Beagley said: “We always look forward to the Film and Comic Con event coming to Braehead.
