A Coronation Street star has confirmed two characters who recently exited the street will be back on screens very soon, just weeks away in fact.
Actress Claire Sweeney confirmed she was returning to the show as newcomer Cassie Plummer, after she appeared to make an exit earlier this month.
Cassie recently joined the show as the estranged daughter of Evelyn Plummer, and the biological mother of Tyrone Dobbs. Amid Evelyn actress Maureen Lipman taking a brief break from the show, Claire appeared to confirm that she too will be back on the soap next month.
Viewers were sad to see Evelyn leave as she and daughter Cassie took some time away, just days into her arrival on the show. While some fans were unsure if Cassie was coming back and when Evelyn may return, it seems they will be back sooner than we thought.
Claire told Lorraine Kelly on her show on Wednesday that she was already back filming, alongside Maureen who plays her onscreen mother.
Confirming the double return had already been filmed and would be airing in the middle of August, she confirmed that viewers would be seeing more of Cassie and that Evelyn was back.
She explained: "I'm back on August 16th on screen and I'm back in the thick of filming, working with the wonderful Alan Halsall. He’s so good, and Maureen, and Sally Carman as well, I love it."
It comes as fellow newcomer Stephanie Davis teased there could be more to her own character's arrival on the Cobbles, amid theories of a secret link to another new character.
While Courtney is entering the show as part of a huge summer storyline with her husband Darren Vance, the actress revealed some fans have questioned whether she is linked to someone else on the street.
Explaining the messages she had received on social media, Stephanie spilled that several people have asked her if Courtney is related to Claire's character Cassie.
Steph revealed that due to both her and co-star Claire being from Liverpool, people have asked her whether Courtney will turn out to be the secret daughter of Cassie.
The actress didn't exactly rule the idea out though, hinting it was possible and that Courtney could be linked to the fellow newcomer.
Speaking to press recently, Stephanie said: "I've had so many messages because Claire’s [joining] and cos [we’re both Scouse] and they’ve said, 'this is it, I know what it is, you're going in as her daughter,' trying to put the dots together. I'm reading it like this is all good. Who knows, we'll have to wait and see."
