Corrie star Kimberly Hart-Simpson turns up the heat in sparkling charity shop dress

Her character has caused a stir since she returned to Weatherfield and actress Kimberly Hart-Simpson turned up the heat as she showcased a new look away from the famous cobbles. Kimberly, who plays Nicky Wheatley in the soap, returned to our screens last month as former sex worker Nicky.

The character told her ex Daniel Osbourne, played by Rob Mallard, that she wanted to make a new start as a teaching assistant working alongside him at Weatherfield High. Not only was her arrival met with jealousy from Daniel's new love Daisy Midgeley, she has now lost her job at the high school after scheming pupil Max Turner found and leaked images and videos of Nicky from her past.

But actress Kimberly looked a far cry from all the drama as she sparkled in sun-soaked photos in a dazzling multi-coloured mini dress. And she revealed that the designer dress was a bargain charity shop purchase hat she had snapped up for £18 from the British Heart Foundation.

As she shared her look for the summer on Instagram the soap star urged others to help reduce landfill. "With summer fast approaching our event calendars are getting full and the pressure to churn out the looks is on. This all comes with a cost both financially and mentally to want to look our best." she explained.

She continued: "Our obsession with buying for an event results in the event itself becoming mostly about how we will look for it vs the memories we will inevitably make (the latter should be our main focus). Here’s a solution. If we all for at least one of our events this summer make a pact that we will source an outfit from our local charity shop (which by the way sell designer dresses like this one at a fraction of the price) we can make a huge impact in many ways.

"1. You will save money, and the money you do spend will go towards a charity that will help change someone’s life. 2. Very unlikely someone else will be wearing the same thing as you at the event. 3. You have made a contribution to the reduction of landfill. Discount dancing is the new move!"

Actress Faye McKeever replied with a flame emoji: "Holy schhhhmokes." Corrie co-star Jack James Ryan, who plays Jacob Hay, also shared flame emojis. And rosiefeeneyx told her: "Dress (flame emojis) caption (love heart eyes emojis)."

In February Kimberly turned heads on a night out in a bronze lace-up top she had bought for just £2 from a British Heart Foundation charity shop. Holding up a glass of bubbles she toasted: "Cheers to £2 tops."

Kimberly arrived as Nicky in Corrie in June 2020 and she left in September that year. Nicky came into widower Daniel's life when Adam Barlow decided it was time for him to get out and about following the death of his wife Sinead from cervical cancer in October 2019.

The pair hit it off at a drinks reception but Daniel was shocked to realise she was charging for his time when he asked to see her again. But he decided to meet up with her in a hotel and paid her £220 as he opened up to her about missing his late wife.

He paid her to wear his wife's clothes and it soon became clear that Daniel had feelings for her, urging her to quit her life as a sex worker. When Nicky ended up in hospital following a nasty attack, Daniel stole money from vile Geoff Metcalfe and gave it to the single mum so she could start a new life.
