Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd has teased Stephen Reid’s possible downfall, as he continues to target his mother Audrey Roberts.
Viewers are fearing Stephen will only get worse, after recent scenes saw him plot to drug his mother - amid his plan to get his hands on her money.
After his plot to get ownership of her house earlier this year failed, he’s now desperately trying to conceal the fact he is broke, and doesn’t have a penny to his name.
With his family oblivious to the fact that the once wealthy character now has nothing left, they’re only adding to the pressure to conceal the truth.
Upcoming scenes see Stephen struggling as his family encourage him to give thousands of pounds to Sarah amid her business woes, while Audrey is also keen to go on a cruise.
But Jack has revealed that his character David Platt’s suspicions over his uncle only increase, with him one of few people who have questioned the villain so far.
Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, Jack teased that the Platts wouldn’t take too kindly to Stephen trying to hurt his own mother, Audrey, and they could take action.
He explained: “If anybody crosses Audrey then you cross all of us. We don't want any harm to come to Audrey so we might have to sort of step in if he does hurt Audrey."
On how David might react if the truth about Stephen’s killer antics and dodgy ways came to light, he went on: “Well I am getting suspicious, no-one else is. He did have some money problems but sort of sorted himself out a little bit…
“I think David will be the one to say to everyone, ‘I told you so, from the off I said he was bad news and no one believed me’.
“So David will be there for that but I don’t want him to uncover the truth because that sounds like he’d be on the chopping board.”
Whether Stephen will be found out in the coming weeks or if he manages to keep his secret from his relatives, remains to be seen.
But while he was shown going against drugging his mother in a change of heart, viewers are still panicking that Audrey will get hurt.
It was teased after all that whatever happened with the dark storyline, it would have huge implications for the soap legend given that he is her son.
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
