Corrie spoilers: Debbie resorts to extreme lengths to battle bankruptcy woes

Coronation Street’s Debbie Webster is facing dire financial straits on the ITV soap next week, which force her to go to extreme lengths.

The financial strain has been caused by an accident at the hotel, in which Ed Bailey (Trevor Michael Georges) received a severe electrical shock while doing some work.

This week on the soap, Ed decides to help Debbie out this week by fixing a broken radiator at the hotel – only to be suddenly electrocuted and knocked unconscious.

In a panic, Ronnie (Vinta Morgan) and Paul (Peter Ash) call an ambulance, and Debbie realises she has no idea when an inspection was last carried out, particularly given that Ray (Mark Frost) was notorious for cutting corners.

Debbie is incredibly stressed and tells Ronnie that Ray cancelled the professional indemnity insurance.

Visiting Ed in the hospital, Debbie hands over a cheque but a furious Aggie (Lorna Laidlaw) tells her it is not nearly enough, advising Debbie she better hire a lawyer as they’ve already got Adam (Sam Robertson) on their side.

The next day, Debbie calls at No.3 and offers Ed £30k by way of compensation for the incident.

ITV spoilers have now revealed that the situation goes from bad to worse next week, as Debbie hatches a plan to dig herself out of the financial hole.

The story continues when Debbie admits that she’s struggling to raise the money for Ed, prompting Ronnie to suggest she should do themed nights at the bistro.

However, as Debbie puts up her posters advertising ‘Psychic Night’ and ‘Casino Night’ outside the bistro, Leanne is clearly disapproving.

Later in the week, Debbie desperately hatches a plan as she sets up the bistro alongside Ronnie for ‘Psychic Night’.

As Leanne worries that they’re simply conning vulnerable people out of their hard-earned cash, Debbie admits to Ronnie the extent of her financial problems and the fact she’s left with two options; bankruptcy or an insurance job.

Ronnie assures her it won’t come to that. When Debbie hears Ryan telling the psychic that he’s skint and has debt coming out of his ears, she hatches a plan.

Will Debbie be able to dig herself out of this financial hole?

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV.
