Corrie spoilers: Alya hatches secret plot to clear Stu’s name with smoking gun DNA

Coronation Street’s Alya has been left determined to get to the bottom of Charlie’s murder in the hopes of clearing Stu’s name of the crime.

Alya (Sair Khan) is now set to take the matter into her own hands next week on the ITV soap, as she gets a lead at Stu’s (Bill Fellows) family reunion.

In scenes airing next week on the ITV soap, a nervous Stu prepares to meet his granddaughter Eliza at Speed Daal, only to be left delighted when all goes well.

However, the mood then quickly changes when Lucy arrives and insists that Bridget and Eliza leave the restaurant immediately, leaving a devastated Stu to watch them go.

Meanwhile on the cobbles, soap newcomer Dee-Dee (Channique Sterling-Brown) tells Alya that there was no trace of Stu's DNA on Charlie's bag, but it will be expensive to get the evidence re-tested.

When Alya spots the women leaving the restaurant she runs after them and accuses a flustered Lucy of hiding vital information linked to Stu’s case.

Believing Lucy knows more than she is letting on, Alya is determined to find the cash for the DNA test.

But, Stu tells Yasmeen and Alya that he no longer wants to pursue his case and only wants to leave the past in the past.

In scenes later in the week on the soap, Stu remains set on this decision, in the hopes of connecting with his daughter and granddaughter.

However, when Dee-Dee tells Alya she has got the funding for the test, Alya decides to keep Stu’s wishes secret and tells her everything has to go through her in the future.

In later scenes, Eliza turns up at Speed Daal and Stu insists on calling Bridget, who then arrives with Lucy to collect Eliza.

Then in the restaurant, Alya spots an opportunity and invites them to stay for tea.

She collars Dee-Dee and, producing a mug that Lucy drank from earlier, insists they have it tested for DNA so they can finally know if she’s the true culprit behind Charlie’s murder.

However, later in the week on Friday, Alya’s secret plan unravels when Dee-Dee calls into Speed Daal with paperwork for Alya to sign – only for Zeedan to realise she hasn’t dropped Stu’s case at all.

Dee-Dee is furious at Alya’s duplicity, but after listening to Alya’s reasoning she says she will send the cup off and if Stu changes his mind then they will have the results for him.

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV.
