Corrie's Sarah misses 'obvious' clues Lydia is Adam's stalker and makes dangerous mistake

Corrie fans can't believe the "obvious" clues missed by Sarah Platt, that her friend Lydia Chambers is stalking her husband Adam Barlow.

Vindictive Lydia (Rebecca Ryan) has been causing havoc for Sarah (Tina O'Brien) and her husband (Sam Robertson) - vandalising his property, getting him in trouble with the police and sending him horrifying messages, all while setting him up.

Both Sarah and Adam have no idea it's Lydia behind all the stalking, with both of them convinced it must be an enemy of Adam's, who has targeted him in the past in a campaign of harassment.

In fact, Sarah has made some mistakes recently that has allowed Lydia to continue her campaign against Adam.

But viewers can't work out why Sarah keeps confiding in Lydia when it's "so obvious" she is behind it all, with Sarah only giving her more ammunition to use against the couple.

Lydia dated Adam for six months when they were younger, and amid fan speculation her son could be Adam's child, she is about to claim they've been having an affair to a devastated Sarah.

Taking to Twitter following the latest twists and turns, viewers called out Sarah for giving Lydia more ways of targeting Adam, believing she is leaving him in danger.

Others called out both characters, suggesting they only had themselves to blame given all of the clues they have missed.

One viewer commented: "Sarah and Adam both must be very dim not to realise Lydia is unstable and Adam her target. I worked out straight away was her and her narcissistic way. Story line stupid."

Another added: "Yes I agree with previous comments most people sussed Lydia was the stalker ages ago and for Sarah to keep feeding her info without her realising somethings not right umm. Get new writers Corrie you're gonna lose your audience .x."

A third fan pointed out: "Lydia the stalker who has it easy, first Sarah leaves the keys on the table in front of her and then talking to Adam in front of her on loudspeaker."

Meanwhile, a fourth viewer said: "Adam & Sarah are not exactly the sharpest tools in the box are they dears. Lydia couldn’t be more obvious," as a fifth wrote: "Sarah-Louise is telling all of her private business to Lydia."

Lydia was introduced on the show as Adam's former flame, but her main role on the soap has now been described as "an updated version of a '90s thriller," by producer Iain MacLeod.

"You might remember all the way through the '90s there were loads of thrillers like Fatal Attraction . Looking back on them now, they look horribly dated in terms of the gender politics," Iain said.

"So we thought: 'What might a story of that type look like in the 21st century?' And I hope we've cracked it. I think what we've got is a really nuanced story where everybody is capable of behaving badly, but there is no vilification of a scorned woman."
