Corrie's Roy Cropper says emotional goodbye as he faces death after hospital dash

Coronation Street legend Roy Cropper faces death next week on the ITV soap, he believes, as he prepares for a major operation.

Scenes prior to this see the character rushed to hospital after experiencing chest pains, and he nearly collapses.

Clearly in a bad way, he's taken to hospital where he learns he must undergo an operation - leaving him fearing the worst.

As he prepares for death, Roy decides to pen a heartbreaking goodbye to his loved ones with personal letters for if he dies.

But will Roy survive, and what does it mean for his soap future?

Next week, Roy is back home and is concealing the news from the hospital from his family and friends, as he silently fears he isn't going to make it.

His little dog Freddie has an operation of his own coming up, and on Monday Roy has been sleep walking.

While some characters believe he's worried about Freddie, they're even more concerned when a second bout of sleepwalking sees him leave the door open.

Spoilers tease little Freddie ends up running out and Evelyn and Nina have to go and find him.

Roy is forced to open up, and tells his niece Nina that he has a big operation coming up and that is why he's so worried.

He doesn't disclose his full concern to her though, and instead confides in Evelyn and hands her a bunch of letters.

Roy tells her she is to hand these out to his loved ones if he doesn't survive the operation amid his health woes.

As the day arrives, it's clear Roy is panicked and Evelyn is by his side as he continues to fear the worst.
