Rebecca Ryan says Lydia Chambers could make a return to Coronation Street soon.
The actress exited her role in scenes airing on the ITV soap yesterday, as Adam finally admitted and apologised for what he did to her when they were students at university after she pushed him over the balcony in harrowing scenes.
Now Rebecca has teased Lydia could be back on the Cobbles one day as there is still a lot of the character's story to explore and develop, as the actress praised her co-stars including Sam Robertson and Tina O'Brien for making her feel so welcome on the show.
Asked if Lydia might be back one day, she said: "I think now we have have that redemption, people have seen she is not just this crazy woman just doing it for no reason, it would be good to explore it a bit more. And what she is really like as a person, I’d love to do it!"
Rebecca admits her role was "daunting" at first, especially coming from Manchester herself.
"I really have had the best time. When you find out you have a job on Coronation Street, it’s daunting. It’s an iconic show, it’s not just any show especially when you come from Manchester," she shared to Metro.
"I don’t tend to get very nervous when I do things and act but I was so nervous in my first week. This is Coronation Street, it’s a big deal. But the cast and crew put me at ease and made me instantly comfortable, they’re amazing and it was such a lovely experience."
Lydia exited the ITV soap yesterday as her and Adam called a "truce" over what happened. Sarah told the police all what Lydia had done - but Adam rushed from his hospital bed to insist he didn't want to press charges.
Rebecca previously revealed to The Mirror that no one realised her brother was also on the soap too.
"Nobody at Coronation Street had any idea. When I joined, I’d be talking to people and say, ‘Oh, yeah, my brother works here’. And they’d go, 'Really, who’s your brother? What? Jack!' It’s a dream come true to be working on the show at the same time, but it’s a total coincidence," she said of her sibling Jack James Ryan, who plays Jacob Hay on the programme.
Speaking about her character, she added: "A lot of people say that Lydia is horrible and horrendous – but I can separate me from Lydia. I don’t read all of it, because I think it can consume you and make you feel bad."
