Coronation Street's Lydia Chambers finally confessed to taking revenge on Adam Barlow, during the latest episode of the ITV soap.
The newcomer shocked her ex with the bombshell that she was seeking revenge over their past, as she claimed he "messed up her life" years ago.
She now planned to do the same to him, revealing there was nothing he could do as she "dismantled" his life piece by piece.
Adam was in shock, admitting he had no idea what he did to her all those years ago, but Lydia remained coy as she urged him to cast his mind back.
The pair dated briefly during university, but Lydia suggested there was much more to their romance than what Adam remembers.
As he begged her to tell him what happened and why she was trying to ruin him, Lydia smirked before vowing to destroy him before running off.
It all kicked off after weeks of her framing him, setting him up over a fake affair before revealing all to his devastated wife Sarah.
With lingerie receipts and visits to hotels, Lydia even staged texts from Adam to her to make it seem as though he was the mystery married man she was sleeping with.
When Sarah grew suspicious and asked if it was Adam, Lydia tearfully confessed as she put on a show and claimed they'd been sleeping together for weeks.
Adam returned to the flat and did his best to prove his innocence, but a heartbroken Sarah was not having it and believed Lydia was telling the truth.
There was nothing Adam could do to change her mind, and instead he went to speak to Lydia to find out why she had lied.
It's then that Lydia said: "Do you really need me to explain?" before making it clear she was in no way interested in actually having a fling with him.
As he demanded answers, she said: "You know what this is Adam? Payback. Everything you deserve and more," telling him: "Cast your mind back Mr Memory."
Adam protested that he had no idea what she was going on about, sure they were not "serious" and had only dated for a matter of months.
Lydia looked furious with this claim, before vowing to destroy him - suggesting it's what he'd done to her over a decade ago.
She asked: "Is that really all you think happened?" as if there was more that he wasn't confessing to, which he clearly didn't know about.
He said: "Tell me what went down then," and she said: "You messed up my life, you dismantled me bit by bit."
Telling him it was too late to say sorry, she vowed: "I'll tell you what I am gonna do, Adam. I'm gonna dismantle your life like you dismantled mine, piece by piece and there is nothing you can do about it."
He looked horrified, needing answers, while his ordeal is far from over.
There's much more to come out with the storyline, with ITV soap bosses teasing the twist will come to a head very soon.
