Corrie's Jacqueline Leonard's soap star past as she returns as Linda Hancock

Joseph Brown's glamorous grandmother returned to ITV's Coronation Street this week.

Fans of the soap were quick to recognise the actress, Jacqueline Leonard, who plays the part of Linda Hancock.

The 56-year-old has already appeared in Corrie, back in 2015, when she took daughter Katy and Joseph to Portugal before Katy died in a car crash.

And now she is back, and it looks as though she is going to cause some trouble between Chesney (Sam Aston) and his son, Joseph.

Her previous appearance on Corrie won't be the only place that caused fans to be familiar with her face, as she shot to fame in the 1990's for various other roles.

Jacqueline was known for playing Sarah Preston in Peak Practice, which ran from 1993-1996 and she also appeared on EastEnders between 1996-1997 as Lorraine, the mother of Joe Wicks (Paul Nicholls).

The star left the BBC soap due to the ill health of her mother.

Fans were quick to share that they recognised her face on Twitter and complimented how good she still looked.

One user said: "I'm sure this Linda, was in EastEnders, way back when! #Corrie"

Beki said: "The actress who plays Linda in corrie looks as good today as she did 20 years ago in #eastenders... it was the voice that made me click.... very beautiful lady who doesn't seem to age .. lucky girl #Corrie"

MJ said: "Linda is ex EastEnders and looks younger now than she did in the 90’s"

Since leaving Albert Square, Jacqueline has played roles in series including Holby City, Waterloo Road, Doctors and River City.

The Blackpool actress said she would love to stay in Corrie permanently but this time it's another 'flying visit'.

She said: "The nice thing about the character she can come in and out anyway. But if it was a permanent thing, that would be great also. Wait and see (if she sticks around)!"

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV and the ITV Hub
