Corrie's Abi actress says she's 'going to squeeze' co-star fiancé as he backs her for award

Coronation Street star Sally Carman says she's 'going to squeeze' her co-star fiancé as he backs her for award.

The Abi Franklin actress has been wowing viewers for her portrayal of the grieving mother and her hunt for justice.

Fans have watched Abi in recent episodes as she sits through every twist and turn of her son Seb's murder trial.

And the character is being cheered on by fans as her own detective work after becoming convinced that Corey Brent's rich dad is paying off witnesses to back his son who is on trial for murder.

Abi's findings were seemingly confirmed when Kelly Neelan's lawyer Imran Habeeb overheard Stefan giving his ungrateful son a warning over all he has done for him.

Imran then visited Abi to tell him what he heard, and asked her to leave it to him as he tries to clear Kelly's name.

As fans known, the jury is currently out and the verdict will be revealed in Friday's double trip to Weatherfield.

In the meantime though, Sally has a glitzy award ceremony to attend.

Sally has been applauded by fans for her portrayal of Abi (ITV)

The soap actress is up for Serial Drama Performance at the National Television Awards which take place tonight (Thursday).

Sally is up against Corrie co-star Mollie Gallagher, who plays Nina Lucas, for the award after an incredible four months on-screen.

And as well as being backed by fans, her other half Joe Duttine, who plays Tim Metcalfe in the ITV soap, is firmly in her corner.

After the drama director at ITV tweeted about how he "couldn't decide" who should win at another awards ceremony earlier this week out of a shortlist which included Sally, Joe replied: "@sallycarman1 what dya mean? 'you couldn't decide' man..."

Sally replied: "Gonna squeeze you," with the love heart eye emoji.

Last month Joe also shared the NTA shortlist to Instagram and said: "Well it's an absolute no-brainer......"

It will be an emotional night if Sally does walk away victorious after fans were left crying 'happy tears' when she picked up a TV Choice Award earlier this week.

Sally and Joe may be married - or getting married - to each other's best mates in Corrie but Joe Duttine and Sally Carmen are happily loved up off-screen.

The actor are thought to have started their relationship in the summer of 2018 and moved into a new home together at the end of 2019.

And last March, the couple announced the happy news of their engagement.
