Corrie favourites Sam Aston and Shayne Ward beam with pride as other halves show off growing baby bumps

Coronation Street's Sam Aston and Shayne Ward were beaming alongside their other halves as they stepped out in Cheshire. The expectant dads looked full of the joys of spring as they stepped out in Cheshire.

Sam and his wife Briony and Shayne and his fiancee Sophie Austin were all smiles as they attended the Mum and Me event at Mere Golf Club. Both couples are expecting their second child.

Sam, 28, who plays father-of-five Chesney Brown in Corrie, proudly stood next to his glowing wife. And the yoga teacher was glowing as she cradled her growing bump in a black midi dress and a pretty pale lilac coat.

The actor, who has played Chesney in Corrie for 19 years, took to Instagram back in October to reveal his wife was pregnant again, sharing an adorable snap of their son Sonny standing alongside some pumpkins with a sign.

The message read: "We're adding another pumpkin to our patch. Due Spring 2022."

Their baby boy was born six weeks premature in August 2020 and the couple are expecting a baby girl in May.

Briony, 27, last week shared her joy at reaching 34 weeks of pregnancy.

"Which is the gestation Sonny was born at so it’s a huge deal for me," she explained.

Sam married childhood sweetheart Briony in May 2019 with the wedding attended by many of his castmates including Katie, Brooke Vincent, Alan Halsall, and Jennie McAlpine, who plays his on-screen sister Fizz in the ITV soap.

The romantic nuptials were held on Stock Farm on the edge of Tatton Park in Cheshire.

Fellow Corrie favourite Shayne, 37, who played the late Aidan Connor, excitedly pointed at former Hollyoaks star Sophie's blossoming bump as they strolled hand-in-hand to the event, which was also attended by Sarah Jayne Dunn who played Mandy Richardson in the Channel Four soap.

Sophie, 38, looked stunning in a figure-hugging dress and knee-high boots.

The soap star pair, who have a five-year-old daughter Willow, received an outpouring of congratulations after revealing that they're having another girl due in May.

The couple had turned to IVF but when that sadly failed Sophie fell pregnant naturally, they told Hello!

Sophie says IVF was one of the 'most emotionally draining' experiences they had ever been through, and she had 'never felt so depressed and low in my whole life.'

But it was her fiance's positivity that kept her going.

Shayne, from Clayton, played Aidan Connor in Corrie from 2015 to 2018.

Shayne and Sophie welcomed Willow in December 2016 and the couple got engaged on Boxing Day 2017.

Shayne previously said that the proud parents would love to have another baby.

He received high praise for his role in Corrie, winning best single episode and best storyline at The British Soap Awards in 2019 for his moving portrayal of Aidan, who took his own life after secretly struggling with his mental health.

The actor and singer, who won The X Factor in 2005, relished the opportunity in lockdown to spend more time with Sophie and Willow.

In 2019 his fiancee, who starred in a heartbreaking storyline in the BBC One drama Call The Midwife about a young mum who suffered a stroke, thanked the NHS for her care after she ended up in hospital with the life-threatening condition sepsis following a routine operation.

In 2020 Shayne released a new version of the timeless classic Over The Rainbow dedicated to the NHS.
