Corrie fans 'work out' Stu twist after watch clue as Yasmeen witnesses arrest

Coronation Street fans believe they have worked out what could be coming for Stu Carpenter on the ITV soap after he was arrested during Wednesday’s episode in dramatic scenes.

Stu (Bill Fellows) was discharged from hospital and returned to the cobbles intent on explaining his past to Yasmeen Nazir (Shelley King) after he was arrested for Charlie’s murder.

Yasmeen learnt of Stu’s arrest for Charlie’s murder through his ex-wife Lucy, who believes he was responsible for her murder after discovering the pair had an affair.

Stu then confessed to the crime after his DNA was found all over the young woman – but now maintains his innocence after a devastating wrongful conviction.

When Stu arrived at Yasmeen’s house in scenes that aired on Wednesday evening, she was visibly distressed and started to panic when he said he would not leave until she heard him out.

A shaky Yasmeen listened as Stu explained that dodgy copper Detective Lennox forced him into a confession, taking advantage of the fact he had lost his way after returning from the Navy.

Despite the heartfelt plea, Yasmeen was unmoved and remained adamant Stu must be guilty of the crime – she even compared him to her traumatic past caused by Geoff.

After she secretly called Zeedan (Qasim Akhtar) for help, he burst into the house alongside PC Craig Tinker ( Colson Smith ), who proceeded to arrest Stu for disrupting the peace.

But as the arrest was conducted a watch was seen falling out of Stu’s pocket, unbeknownst to him. Once Stu had been whisked away to the police station, Yasmeen told Zeedan to throw the watch – leaving many fans predicting it could hold the clue to Stu’s future.

Taking to Twitter after the dramatic scenes aired, one fan hypothesised: “I feel like the watch is engraved or something,” hinting it could hold an important secret.

Another wrote: “DONT BIN THE WATCH !!! That's probably got the DNA evidence on it that clears Stu. Can't see any other reason to draw attention to it!”

A fellow adamant fan insisted: “Don’t chuck his watch away.”

With Yasmeen and Zeedan adamant that Stu is a killer, will he ever be able to clear his name and convince them of his innocence?

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV.
