Corrie fans want Sunita to return as co-star 'icons' reunite for catch-up

Coronation Street fans have been left in a bit of a tizz as two of the soaps 'icons' reunited for a catch-up.

Kate Ford, best known to viewers as Tracey Barlow, shared a selfie with S hobna Gulati who fans will know as Sunita Alahan.

Sunita had a turbulent time in Weatherfield from being diagnosed with an aneurysm and a brain tumour to being falsely imprisoned, and held hostage.

On a positive note, Sunita became a mum to twins Asha and Aadi but became a single parent after divorcing Dev.

But Sunita met a tragic end in 2013 when she becoming trapped in a fire at the Rovers Return and later died from a cardiac arrest in hospital after her breathing tube was removed by Karl Munro, with who she had an affair with.

All of that, however, hasn't stopped fans wanting her back on the cobbles with many of them making it clear on Kate's Instagram post.

"Catching up with my beautiful friend @shobnagulati," the actress shared alongside the smiling selfie.

Shobna was quick to respond, writing: "Best best catch up love you Kate we laugh and laugh and cry and laugh xxx I love you."

"She needs to come back to Corrie as Sunita’s long lost cousin," one suggested.

Another said: "Wish she was still in corrie, miss her."

A third added: "Two beautiful brilliant actors - come back to Corrie Shobna."

"Goodness do I miss seeing you on the cobbles @shobnagulati I often wonder what Sunita would do with her little family," a fourth commented.

But overall, fans were very pleased to see that they're still firm pals off-screen.

"Awwww, "Sunita"!! One of my corrie faves!!" a fan wrote.

Another simply said: "ICONS."

"Yes Sunita and Tracy," a third added.

A fourth said: "Lovely pic of the two of you. Hope you had a lovely time."

"Lovely to see this," another commented.

After Sunita's death, Dev, played by Jimmi Harkishin, struggled to raise the twins alone until kindly neighbour Mary Taylor stepped in to become their nanny.

And the children are now all grown up and were in a bit of an age riddle earlier this year as the soap added a year to their birth date.
