Coronation Street killer Stephen Reid was plotting to cover his tracks on Monday evening after the death of Leo Thompkins on the ITV soap.
Stephen has spent the past few weeks scheming after his big showdown with Leo on the factory gantry ended in tragedy.
Leo's nearest and dearest believe the character has moved away to Canada to start a new life.
However, Leo's dad Teddy was left suspicious on Monday’s scenes after he had not heard from his son in weeks – which Stephen overhears and silently decides to take action.
The villain approached barmaid Daisy to discuss the situation and suggested Leo may reach out on a special date, such as his mother’s birthday. Daisy then said Leo's mum would have been 50 last Sunday.
A cunning Stephen then whipped out Leo’s phone with its cracked screen and tapped in the date, which proved to be his phone code.
However, Coronation Street fans were left slightly perplexed by Leo’s mother’s birthday as one took to Twitter to write: “Leo's mum would have been 50 how old was Leo 14.”
“Leo's mum would've been 50? Exactly how young was Leo meant to be?!” a second chimed as a third tweeted: “So Leo's mother is younger than Jenny Bradley.”
In later scenes in the episode, Teddy and Jenny Connor arranged a meeting at the Bistro to discuss the situation, only for Stephen to secretly take a photo of the pair when he saw them on the street.
Stephen then sent the photo to Teddy from Leo's phone and posed as his son as he wrote a message to get Teddy to stop digging, penning: “Don't contact me again.”
Despite his attempts, Teddy couldn't shake his concerns and vowed to travel to Canada and speak to Leo in person to get some answers.
Stephen was even more horrified and intervened to talk Teddy down, insisting Leo will come around.
However, his fear of discovery got the best of him and the episode ended with Stephen covertly crushing the phone and its sim card before he deposited it into a rubbish bin.
Could the truth about Leo be discovered on the ITV soap? Or will Stephen manage to trick Teddy after all?
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV.
