Coronation Street fans have criticised Sarah Barlow after she blasted husband Adam Barlow’s unusual and expensive birthday present for her.
Adam (Samuel Robertson) surprised Sarah (Tina O'Brien) with a new five-burner oven on Wednesday’s instalment of the soap, but despite his best intentions, Sarah was left unimpressed.
Adam said: “I pushed the boat out. Ta da,” handing wife Sarah a brochure for the fancy appliance.
He added: “It's being delivered this afternoon. I went for the more expensive double oven, with the easy clean coating. It's even got an HD camera fitted into it.”
But Sarah’s face fell as she said: “Are you kidding?”
A nonplussed Adam replied: “Not bad, right? I could be sat in the Rovers with my hot bird at the same time as checking in on my juicy bird in the oven.”
But Sarah fumed, slamming the brochure on a table and storming out after saying: “Have you just compared me to a roasting chicken? Adam, seriously? You got me an oven for my birthday? Tell me this is a wind-up.”
Adam hilariously responded saying: “It's got five burners.”
Despite Sarah’s unhappiness at the kitchen appliance present, Coronation Street fans took to Twitter to express their own delight at the prospect of being given the bells and whistles oven.
One wrote: “I would be absolutely buzzing if I received an oven like that for my birthday #Corrie” alongside a string of laughing crying emojis.
A second tweeted: “I’d love that oven for my birthday #sarah #adam #Corrie @itvcorrie”
Meanwhile another fan wrote: “Ungrateful! I'd be happy with an oven! #Corrie”
Another posted: “A 5 burner double oven OMG I'd love that for my birthday! #Corrie”
This comes as ITV spoilers revealed that Adam and Sarah Barlow will fear for their safety in unsettling scenes on the soap next week.
Adam realises that he's still being targeted by an enemy - as death threats start to arrive and he discovers his car windscreen has been smashed.
Adam once again blames Jeremy Bremner, who was the losing party in a recent case, and he admits to keying Adam’s car a few weeks ago but denies the other malicious acts.
Sarah later blames Adam for antagonising Jeremy, and although Adam suggests reporting Jeremy to the police, he's left spooked when he starts receiving silent phone calls - which he doesn’t share with Sarah.
Later in the week, Sarah receives a large bouquet of flowers with a threatening note attached: “Next bouquet will be for your funeral.”
Sarah calls the police and Adam is forced to reveal the harassment campaign, leaving Sarah upset he kept it from her.
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:30pm and 8:30pm on ITV.
