Corrie fans shocked by Claire Sweeney's transformation and say she looks 'rough' in debut episode

Claire Sweeney made her debut on Coronation Street this evening and fans were all left saying the same thing. The usually glamorous actress took her first steps on the cobbles as Cassie - Tyrone's mum.

But viewers got to see Sweeney in a totally new light as she appeared on screen in scruffy clothes and a baseball cap. And things only got worse as Cassie ended up in hospital having been found unresponsive due to a drug overdose.

The transformation was a shock to those who know Sweeney from her time on Brookside and Loose Women. Fans took to Twitter to share their disbelief.

Phil not Bob (@Bob71136804) summed up the transformation. He said: "Blimey is that Claire Sweeney? She’s looked better."

Swalk (@Samanth22356123) said: "Seems weird seeing Claire Sweeney not all glammed up!!!" Teena Massam (@teenamassam) added: "Claire Sweeney is usually so glamorous… #Corrie."

Jeff (@jeffnewton1) simply said: "I hardly recognised her! Used to be in Brookside."

Bradley Coombes (@bradleycoombes7) commented that her normal glamorous look still managed to shine through while she played Cassie. "Claire Sweeney got good teeth for someone on drugs."

Jussie (@JV2theP) agreed:"Claire Sweeney’s character would be more believable as a junkie if she didn’t have such lovely veneers!"

youavinalarf (@stevebethere) joked: "She's looking for Brookside Close #corrie."
