Coronation Street fans believe they might have worked out how Paul’s money woes on the ITV soap will resolve themselves, after he floated the possibility of suing Carla.
Paul (Peter Ash) was in a freak accident on the cobbles when Carla Connor (Alison King) ploughed into him on a motorbike while she was driving the Underworld van and had been, unbeknownst to her, drugged with LSD by evil Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce).
The doctors told Paul he was fine, however, the character has since developed symptoms indicating he could have done more damage than first anticipated, with a repeated struggle to control his hands.
As Peter told wife Carla he had come into £15,000 through a lucky bet on the horses, Corrie fans now think the cash could end up in Paul’s hands as Dee-Dee Bailey told him he could be owed tens of thousands in compensation for the crash.
Taking to Twitter, one fan wrote: “Talk about a flaming coincidence Dee-Dee mentions Paul can sue Carla for thousands just as Peter makes £15k.”
A second added: “Peter's £15k going straight to Paul then?,” as another suggested: “Paul should speak to Carla she’d understand & compensate him fairly!”
In scenes on Monday night, Stephen gathered the Underworld factory workers and argued that Carla was not fit to take the reins back yet, declaring they should instead hold a vote of no confidence.
Amidst his attempt at a coup, Faye got straight onto the phone to tip off Carla and she pitched up at the office to chew Stephen out, labelling him a ‘snake’ and telling him he is fired.
Meanwhile, trouble was brewing elsewhere for Carla as Paul was itching to get back at the yard, only to struggle under the labour-intensive work.
Ed asked him to take it easy for now, but Paul not only struggled to tie his bootlaces, he then narrowly avoided severing his hand off when he decided to cut down some panels using his left hand.
After the near miss, Ed brusquely ordered Paul to go home, forcing him to admit to Billy that he was told to leave work and had not felt right since the accident.
Paul then had the difficult task of informing sister Gemma he would not be able to help her out with her gas bill.
To make matters worse, Ed then told Paul he could not take him back on at the yard without the medical all-clear, leaving Billy and Dee-Dee convincing Paul to sue Carla for negligence.
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV.
