Corrie fans 'rumble' how Spider's undercover copper secret is spilled to Toyah amid trial

Coronation Street fans fear Toyah Habeeb could be on the brink of learning Spider Nugent has betrayed her on the ITV soap, after viewers learnt he is an undercover cop.

The revelation came after explosive scenes earlier this week when Toyah (Georgia Taylor) confessed to intentionally killing her husband Imran.

On Thursday’s episode of the soap, Toyah then stood trial for the murder of Imran ( Charlie de Melo ), hot on the heels of her monumental confession to Spider (Martin Hancock) – prompting many fans to speculate her fate could be sealed.

Ahead of the courtroom scenes, Leanne pleaded with a nervous Toyah not to say something she'll regret in the trial, urging her to leave it to her solicitor.

The prosecution painted her as a murderer, with Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) and Kelly both called as witnesses.

Imran's mother Saira Habeeb (Kim Vithana) then told the court that she saw Toyah kissing Spider and she believed Toyah was having an affair – and so killed Imran on purpose.

Leanne defended her sister on the stand, leaving Toyah's guilt at an all-time high as she decided to take the stand after all.

However, given that Spider’s name arose in the testimony, Emmerdale fans think the undercover copper could become embroiled in the trail as a late addition.

Taking to Twitter, one fan wrote: “I'd love Spider to be called to the stand & see Toyah's face when she finds out he's a cop.”

Another added: “Ooh, good, (rubbing my hands!) Toyah could learn about Spider in public, in court, mwahaha!”

As another fan speculated the barrister seemed to recognise Spider’s name upon mention – and could recognise him – another fan added: “Trial calls surveillance officer, PC Spider.”

Another concluded: “Detective Lady is 100% right. If Toyah genuinely is a bona-fide killer can Spider with a legal duty to serve & protect really live with his conscience?

“Although if he says anything it'll come out about the two of them & won't look good like her lawyer said unfortunately.”

As the jury is set to deliver their verdict in coming scenes, will Toyah be found guilty or set free?

Thursday evening proved to be a blockbuster soap night, with an extra episode of Emmerdale and an hour-long instalment of Coronation Street, as part of schedule changes following Queen Elizabeth II 's death.

The ITV soaps have been affected by coverage about the monarchy since the late Queen's death last week. Some episodes haven't aired in their usual slots in the schedule.

Such episodes have been pushed back in recent days to accommodate ITV News bulletins and other content.

Coronation Street aired between 9pm and 10pm, despite the fact that the soap doesn't typically air on a Thursday nor is it usually broadcast so late in the evening.
