Coronation Street fans were shocked as they tuned into Thursday's episode of the ITV soap.
The latest instalment saw the police grill Kevin and Abi Webster after Imran Habeeb (Charlie De Melo) died after being involved in a car crash.
The officers were led to Kevin after Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) informed them that he had offered to fix Imran's car on the morning of the accident.
They were suspicious of mechanic Kevin (Michael Le Vell) after it was confirmed that the brakes on Imran's car hadn't been applied moments before the crash - and it was Toyah (Georgia Taylor) who was driving.
But immediately after Abi and Kevin were questioned, Kelly Neelan took it upon herself to inform the police that Imran was planning to come clean to Toyah about lying during the custody hearing for baby Alfie.
Kelly had convinced Imran to tell his wife the truth after she made him feel very guilty for setting Abi up.
"He said that he was gonna tell Toyah that he'd lied in court about Abi Webster using drugs?" the police officer said to Kelly.
"Yeah, he was dead nervy by it all," she replied, as the officer asked: "Why would he be nervous?"
"Because he knew that Toyah would go up the wall, but now Toyah is saying he didn't tell her anything," Kelly responded.
"And it doesn't make any sense because Imran had made up his mind what he was gonna do, he was 100 per cent on his way to tell her the truth, so why wouldn't he have done?" Kelly added.
Later on in the episode, the officer was seen questioning Toyah as she lay in her hospital bed and informed her that there was nothing wrong with the brakes on the car.
"I'd just like to ask how you and Imran were before the accident," the police officer said, before asking what the couple were talking about at the time of the accident.
"Were you arguing at the time of the accident? Fighting? Rowing?" she probed as Leanna looked confused.
"We have information that suggests you may well have been fighting while you were driving. The brakes on the car were working fine, you were speeding along and you made no attempt to apply the brakes, leading to the death of Mr Habeeb.
"You didn't hit the brakes, did you?" she then asked as Toyah stuttered.
Corrie fans were stunned at the revelation that Toyah could have crashed the car on purpose, and took to Twitter to comment.
"Wait Toyah didn't apply the brakes?! what?! #Corrie," one person posted.
Another tweeted: "#corrie that twist was unexpected tonight about Toyah and the crash," while a third added: "#corrie Omg did Toyah crash on purpose?"
A fourth person posted: "No flipping way! It was Toyah who sabotage Imran’s car! I did not seen that coming! #Corrie."
And someone else tweeted: "So maybe Inram did tell Toyah! That’s why she crashed the car! #Corrie."
However, some viewers point blank refused to accept that it could have been Toyah's fault.
"Can’t believe they’re trying to pin the blame on Toyah now! #Corrie," one person tweeted.
