Coronation Street's Elaine could die in a horrifying twist as Stephen Reid is finally exposed.
In shocking scenes next week, Stephen is adamant he wants to fix their struggling relationship, and desperate to get a second chance, he thinks a romantic break in the Peak District is just the ticket. Elaine is pleased with the suggestion and heads to pack, whilst Stephen is busy checking over her life insurance, which he had fraudulently signed for her.
However, things soon unfurl for Stephen after Tim and Elaine realise his master plan - with Paula revealing how Elaine is horrified by the revelation about the life insurance and it makes her realise he's up to no good.
Speaking to The Mirror and other press, she said: "If she wanted any more proof, this is certain proof. He's forged her signature on a document which means that if she dies he’ll make a lot of money. Then you realise of course, he’s been talking about money none stop, telling her, ‘Don’t sell your house, keep your house, keep your money.
"Give me some money so that I can buy the factory and then I can pay you back’. So much of what he’s talked to her about is money, money, money, money, money and there it is in black and white. Her signature. She thinks, 'I didn’t sign that, somebody has forged my signature and the only person that it can be is the one that I loved and trusted.'"
Paula is overjoyed to be such a big part of the serial killer storyline, as she praised her co-star Todd Boyce.
She explained: "The story unfolds and Elaine is one of the people that does lead to his disaster, to his downfall. The story’s been full of surprises, hasn’t it? I’ve found myself when I’m reading the scripts just fascinated with all the ups and downs. And Todd Boyce is a delight to work with. He’s so busy, how does he do it? I don’t know."
Elaine soon realises that there is something bad about Stephen - but isn't quite aware of his serial killer status yet.
"Elaine still doesn’t know that he might have murdered anybody. But she does know what he gets like when he’s angry, she’s seen flashes of it. And there was the most wonderful scene when he just went berserk in Underworld," she said.
"She knows that he’s bad but she suddenly realises that he’s really bad. She goes into a tailspin at that point and from then on, she really sees the light. Elaine’s also really scared, especially when Tim doesn’t come back for a while."
