• An article said Mark Carney “will be only the second prime minister in Canadian history without a seat in the House of Commons” (Mark Carney to become the next PM of Canada, 10 March, p2 from p1, late editions). To clarify, a handful of others have taken office in such circumstances, but Carney will be only the second with no formal ties to parliament, including a Commons seat, at the time of their appointment. The other was John Turner.
