Coronavirus infection rates have continued to fall in all ten boroughs of Greater Manchester, however one borough still has a rate above the UK average. Stockport continues to have the highest coronavirus infection rate in Greater Manchester.
The borough recorded a rate of 212.4 cases per 100,000 people in the week ending April 22. This is higher than the national average of 205.4 cases per 100,000 people.
The lowest infection rate is in Oldham, where the rate is 137.6 cases per 100,000 people. In Greater Manchester as a whole, the infection rate is now 169.2 cases per 100,000 population.

A total of 4,798 people tested positive for coronavirus across Greater Manchester in the week which ended on April 22. The Greater Manchester weekly total has decreased by 1856 cases compared to the previous week, which means the infection rate was down 28 per cent in the last week.
Hospital admissions
In the week ending on April 17, a total of 692 patients were admitted to Greater Manchester NHS hospitals with Covid-19. That is 23 fewer than the week before, a fall of 3 per cent.
On Tuesday April 19, there were 19 Mechanical Ventilation (MV) beds occupied by Covid patients in Greater Manchester NHS hospitals. That is three more than a week earlier.
Deaths
In the week ending April 22, a total of 54 people died within 28 days of a positive Covid test across Greater Manchester, which is 15 fewer than the week before. Since the start of the pandemic, there have been a total of 985,266 confirmed coronavirus cases in Greater Manchester. There has been a total of 9,169 deaths.
Cases reported in each of the ten boroughs
Wigan
There were 640 positive tests over the last week in Wigan, which is 196 fewer than in the previous week. The week-on-week trend in Wigan is down by 23 per cent and the latest infection rate is 193.5 cases per 100,000 people.
Salford
In Salford, the latest infection rate is 187.3 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases has gone down by 21 per cent. A total of 492 people tested positive for Covid in Salford over the seven days ending on April 22, which is 132 fewer than the week before.
Bolton
Bolton saw a total of 485 cases in the week ending April 22, which is 86 fewer than the previous week. That is a fall of 15 per cent. In Bolton, the most recent coronavirus infection rate is now 168.3 cases per 100,000 people.
Oldham
Oldham, which has the lowest infection rate in the region, recorded 327 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending April 22, which is 102 fewer than the previous 7 days. The coronavirus infection rate in Oldham is now 137.6 cases per 100,000 people and is down by 24 per cent week-on-week.
Stockport
In Stockport, there were 625 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending April 22, which is 294 fewer than the previous 7 days. Stockport has the highest infection rate in the region. The infection rate in Stockport is down slightly compared with the previous day and the week-on-week trend is down by 32 per cent.
Bury
The trend is down in Bury, where there were 334 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending April 22, which is 135 fewer than the previous 7 days. That is down by 29 per cent compared to the previous week. The latest infection rate in Bury is 175.1 cases per 100,000 people, which is lower than the national average.
Rochdale
There was a fall of 18 per cent in cases in Rochdale over the week ending April 22, and the infection rate is now 153.8 cases per 100,000 population. Rochdale recorded 344 positive Covid-19 tests over the seven-day period, and that is 74 fewer than the previous week.
Tameside
In Tameside, the number of cases is down by 34 per cent compared to the previous week - leaving the infection rate at 148.8 cases per 100,000 population. There were 338 positive Covid-19 tests in Tameside in the week ending April 22, which was 177 fewer than the previous 7 days.
Trafford
Trafford recorded 439 coronavirus cases, which is 308 fewer than in the previous seven days. The latest infection rate in Trafford is 184.8 cases per 100,000 people and that is down 41 per cent week-on-week.
Manchester
Manchester is an area where the trend is down. The latest infection rate here is 139.3 cases per 100,000 people. There were 774 cases recorded in Manchester, which is 352 fewer than the previous week - a fall of 31 per cent.
