Coronavirus infection rates have dropped by more than 20 per cent according to the latest week on week data, as they continue to fall across all ten boroughs of Greater Manchester.
However, hospitalisations have slightly increased as of the week ending April 3, with 801 patients admitted to Greater Manchester NHS hospitals with Covid-19. This is an increase of 10 per cent on the week before.
Trafford continues to have the highest coronavirus infection rate in Greater Manchester, with a rate of 595.6 cases per 100,000 people in the week ending April 3. The lowest infection rate is in Oldham, where the rate is 372.0 cases per 100,000 people.

In Greater Manchester as a whole, the infection rate is now 486.6 cases per 100,000 population. The infection rate in the region still remains lower than the national average, which is 637.5 cases per 100,000 people.
A total of 13,797 people tested positive for coronavirus across Greater Manchester in the week which ended on April 3. The Greater Manchester weekly total has decreased by 3910 cases compared to the previous week, which means the infection rate was down 22 per cent in the last week..
Hospital admissions
In the week ending on April 03, a total of 801 patients were admitted to Greater Manchester NHS hospitals with Covid-19. That is 75 more than the week before, a rise of 10 per cent.
On Tuesday April 05, there were 14 Mechanical Ventilation (MV) beds occupied by Covid patients in Greater Manchester NHS hospitals. That is one fewer than a week earlier.
Deaths
In the week ending April 3, a total of 44 people died within 28 days of a positive Covid test across Greater Manchester, which is 7 more than the week before.

There were 1733 positive tests over the last week in Stockport, which is 623 fewer than in the previous week.

Manchester
There was a fall of 24 per cent in cases in Manchester over the week ending April 3, and the infection rate is now 441.9 cases per 100,000 population.
Manchester recorded 2456 positive Covid-19 tests over the seven-day period, and that is 794 fewer than the previous week.
Rochdale
Rochdale is an area where the trend is down. The latest infection rate here is 415.8 cases per 100,000 people.
There were 930 cases recorded in Rochdale, which is 177 fewer than the previous week - a fall of 16 per cent.
Salford
The trend is down in Salford, where there were 1310 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending April 3, which is 421 fewer than the previous 7 days. That is down by 24 per cent compared to the previous week.
The latest infection rate in Salford is 498.7 cases per 100,000 people, which is lower than the national average.
Bury
Bury saw a total of 948 cases in the week ending April 3, which is 169 fewer than the previous week. That is a fall of 15 per cent.
