Coronavirus infection rates remain below national average in all ten Greater Manchester boroughs

Coronavirus infection rates across Greater Manchester's boroughs are still below the national average, figures have revealed.

The rates have been continuing to fall in all ten local authority areas.

Stockport continues to have the highest coronavirus infection rate in Greater Manchester with a rate of 458.5 cases per 100,000 people.

The lowest infection rate is in Oldham, where the rate is 293.7 cases per 100,000 people.

In Greater Manchester as a whole, the infection rate is now 378.7 cases per 100,000 population.

The infection rate in the region is lower than the national average, which is 624.1 cases per 100,000 people.

A total of 10,740 people tested positive for coronavirus across Greater Manchester in the week which ended on February 10.

The Greater Manchester weekly total has decreased by 6159 cases compared to the previous week, which means the infection rate was down 36 per cent in the last week.

Hospital admissions

In the week ending on February 06, a total of 538 patients were admitted to Greater Manchester NHS hospitals with Covid-19. That is 57 fewer than the week before, a fall of 12 per cent.

On Tuesday February 08, there were 25 Mechanical Ventilation (MV) beds occupied by Covid patients in Greater Manchester NHS hospitals. That is five fewer than a week earlier.

Deaths

In the week ending February 10, a total of 53 people died within 28 days of a positive Covid test across Greater Manchester, which is 41 fewer than the week before.

Since the start of the pandemic, there have been a total of 887,079 confirmed coronavirus cases in Greater Manchester. There has been a total of 8,684 deaths.

Bolton

Bolton saw a total of 1093 cases in the week ending February 10, which is 640 fewer than the previous week. That is a fall of 37 per cent.

In Bolton, the most recent coronavirus infection rate is now 379.2 cases per 100,000 people.

Oldham

Oldham, which has the lowest infection rate in the region, recorded 698 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending February 10, which is 470 fewer than the previous 7 days.

The coronavirus infection rate in Oldham is now 293.7 cases per 100,000 people and is down by 40 per cent week-on-week.

Manchester

Manchester recorded 2127 coronavirus cases, which is 887 fewer than in the previous seven days.

The latest infection rate in Manchester is 382.7 cases per 100,000 people and that is down 29 per cent week-on-week.

Stockport

In Stockport, there were 1349 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending February 10, which is 828 fewer than the previous 7 days.

Stockport has the highest infection rate in the region. The infection rate in Stockport is down slightly compared with the previous day and the week-on-week trend is down by 38 per cent.

Trafford

There were 1048 positive tests over the last week in Trafford, which is 403 fewer than in the previous week.

The week-on-week trend in Trafford is down by 28 per cent and the latest infection rate is 441.1 cases per 100,000 people.

Bury

There was a fall of 40 per cent in cases in Bury over the week ending February 10, and the infection rate is now 355.0 cases per 100,000 population.

Bury recorded 677 positive Covid-19 tests over the seven-day period, and that is 449 fewer than the previous week.

Salford

The trend is down in Salford, where there were 1003 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending February 10, which is 543 fewer than the previous 7 days. That is down by 35 per cent compared to the previous week.

The latest infection rate in Salford is 381.8 cases per 100,000 people, which is lower than the national average.

Tameside

In Tameside, the latest infection rate is 384.8 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases has gone down by 40 per cent.

A total of 874 people tested positive for Covid in Tameside over the seven days ending on February 10, which is 584 fewer than the week before.

Wigan

In Wigan, the number of cases is down by 43 per cent compared to the previous week - leaving the infection rate at 349.2 cases per 100,000 population.

There were 1155 positive Covid-19 tests in Wigan in the week ending February 10, which was 869 fewer than the previous 7 days.

Rochdale

Rochdale is an area where the trend is down. The latest infection rate here is 320.1 cases per 100,000 people.

There were 716 cases recorded in Rochdale, which is 486 fewer than the previous week - a fall of 40 per cent.
